For Flashpoint Friday this week, DC Comics announced the remaining Flashpoint mini-series and one-shots, including the first issue of Flashpoint: Wonder Woman and the Furies. Here is Ed Benes’ cover for the book:
So something bad is going to happen to London, and I think that Wonder Woman and her cohorts may be behind it. It looks like Hawkgirl and Wonder Girl are on her side too, as well as a couple more female heroes in the background I can’t make out and what appears to be an Amazon army. The book’s tagline is “If she can’t save the world – no one will!”, so I’m guessing that it’s either a Wonder Woman is the world’s last hope situation OR she’s being difficult and won’t let anyone else save the world but her.
DC confirmed the creative team that had been rumoured a few weeks back… Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning are writing the book, with Scott Clark and David Beaty on art. Ed Benes is the cover artist for the first issue, so I assume he’ll do the next two issues too.
We’ve also got some more information on another book that pertains to Wonder Woman. Flashpoint: Lois Lane and the Resistance was announced with the tagline “She is ready to reveal the Amazons’ secret!”, whatever that might be. It’s Amazons plural, so it’s not Wonder Woman’s secret specifically but rather one that applies to all the Amazons. That’s really not a ton to go on… I don’t have any guesses here.
Finally, for some reason they’ve put George Perez on another event mini-series, Flashpoint: Secret Seven. I love Perez, but did they learn nothing from Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds? That book took like eight years to finish (I exaggerate, but not much). It was an AWESOME book though… it was far and away the best of all the Final Crisis related series.
