I’m still not over the cancellation of Pushing Daisies. It’s one of my favourite shows of all time, and years later my mind is still blown by the fact that people didn’t tune in to watch it. It had comedy and mysteries and romance and occasional musical numbers!! What more could you want?! Plus it had the most endearing cast ever assembled in the history of the universe. If you’ve never seen the show, a) I hate you… you should have watched it when it was first on so it could have gotten picked up, and b) you ABSOLUTELY should… it’s SO good. You need to watch this show. Seriously… go take a minute and hit up Amazon or Netflix or your local library’s website and make sure that Pushing Daisies is on it’s way to you. Your life will be FAR better if you do. I’ll wait while you go do that.
You did it? Okay… let’s carry on.
Since the show was cancelled, Bryan Fuller (the show’s genius creator and, I am convinced, the sole reason that Heroes‘ first season was so good… once he left, it all went to hell) has said that he’d like to wrap up the storylines with a comic series, and I’ve been eagerly waiting for quite some time. Now, like an Easter miracle, he’s posted the coloured first page AND the uncoloured but lettered first page online via his Twitter account. Check out the coloured page:
And the letters:
Those captions are so wonderfully spot on… I could hear Jim Dale’s voice the second I started reading them.
Fuller credits the art to “Jon Wa$hak”, but googling that got me nothing. My best guess is that he means Jon Wayshak, whose work sort of resembles the comic art, but I could be totally wrong here. Fuller also writes:
No release date yet for PUSHING DAISIES comic as publisher WILDSTORM shuttered its presses. I’ll tweet updates!
Hopefully DC will still publish the book, as they are doing with most of the other Wildstorm properties. Rest assured, as soon as a release date is announced, I’ll post it hear with much celebration and excitement. Here’s an intro to the show for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of watching it yet:
