I’ve saved the worst for last. Not to be outdone by DC, Marvel decided to drop even lower to finish off June as well. On June 29, 2011, Marvel put out 17 new comics with 147 creators, 138 men and 9 women. Here are the record breaking percentages:
And we’ve reached a new low. Congratulations, Marvel!! Your 6.1% is the lowest weekly total we’ve had so far in 2011. Wasn’t Girl Comics about a year ago? Because look at the breakdown here:
And the chart:
FIVE zeroes. WOW. I have no words. Only this:
Notes:
- There was a Captain America reprint book, Captain America Rebirth, with some old Stan Lee stories. While I usually don’t count reprint books, Marvel has an annoying habit of building new framing sequences which I should count. I couldn’t get a lot of info for this framing sequence, but I filled it in as best I could… if anyone has full credits for the book, I’d love to see them and will adjust the numbers accordingly.
- It feels like we have a tie every week for busiest book now!! It’s a three-way tie this week between The Incredible Hulk and the Human Torch #1, Iron Age #1, and X-Men: Prelude to Schism #4 with 11 creators each. They had 1, 1, and 0 female creators respectively.
- There were nine books with 1 female creator, and I’m not going to list them all. Technically, Fear Itself: Black Widow #1 had the most female creators by percentage at 1 of 7, but that’s hardly impressive.
