Alexa at Ladies Making Comics has put up the poster for Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud’s new movie Poulet aux Prunes, aka. Chicken and Plums. Their adaptation of Persepolis was absolutely fantastic, and they’ve moved from animation to live action for their second adaptation of one of Satrapi’s graphic novels. Chicken and Plums follows the last week of an Iranian musician, and it’s weird and awesome, as you can tell from the following the trailer… it’s all in French, but you’ll get the general idea:
Marjane Satrapi is AWESOME and makes amazing comics, and it’s fun to see her branching out filmwise to live action for Chicken and Plums. It’s scheduled to come out on October 26 in France, and hopefully it gets a North American release too. Persepolis did well and got lots of awards and nominations, so that could bode well for us getting it. If you happen to be in Venice this September, Chicken and Plums is going to be at the Venice Film Festival.
I haven’t read Chicken and Plums in years… I am totally rereading it tonight!! It’s a great book, and I’m glad the poster and trailer reminded me of it. I may have to rewatch Persepolis again soon too.
