DC Comics’ The Source blog has announced that Tony Daniels is joining Geoff Johns with Justice League #13, and they’re bringing back the Cheetah!! The Cheetah, and most of Wonder Woman’s rogue gallery, actually, has been out of sight since the relaunch, but now she’s coming back in a two-issue arc. And apparently it’s going to be a big thing. This is what Johns had to say about the story:
“Tony and I will be re-introducing one of DC’s iconic villains – the Cheetah – and uncovering her mysterious connection to Wonder Woman and the Justice League,” added Johns. “For me, the Cheetah is up there with Black Manta, Sinestro and Captain Cold as one of the most iconic villains in the DC Universe, and she’ll become a major villainous force in 2012 and beyond. The fallout from JUSTICE LEAGUE #12 starts here as we head towards next year’s TRINITY WAR.”
We don’t have a lot of details on the Cheetah herself yet, like who she even is, though the fact that she seems to be half human/half cheetah instead of in a costume suggests the more modern Barbara Minerva instead of the Golden Age Priscilla Rich. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for interviews and such to see if any new details come out.
But yeah, the Cheetah!! Cool cool cool. Look for her return in Justice League #13 on October 17th.
