Wonder Woman #17 Cover And Solicit PLUS Wonder Woman In Young Romance Valentine’s Special!!

We saw the cover for Wonder Woman #17 yesterday thanks to clever internet folks, but here it is again today along with the full solicit:

WONDER WOMAN #17
Written by BRIAN AZZARELLO
Art by TONY AKINS and DAN GREEN
Cover by CLIFF CHIANG
On sale FEBRUARY 20 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
• Wonder Woman, War and Orion must join forces to save Zola’s baby from Hermes!
• Orion’s reasons for helping Wonder Woman lead to a disastrous betrayal!
• Plus: The truth about the dreaded First Born is revealed! Woe to the world…

We’ve got a Wonder Woman/Orion/Ares team-up!!  That’s kind of classy.  This baby must be super important for all of them to join together, though it also sounds like it’s not going to end well.  I really hope we get to see Hermes, and find out some explanation for his betrayal.  He was my favourite character, and I hope we’re not done with him.  I enjoyed him being part of the gang.

I wonder if this First Born dude is enough of a threat that it joins Wonder Woman, Orion, and Ares together, or if his story is sort of a background narrative that builds slowly and then ties in with Wonder Woman somehow.  In Wonder Woman #13, the First Born was entirely separate, so I’m curious to see how much it integrates with the main story over the next few issues.

Also, Tony Akins is back on art for this issue.  Since the zero issue in September, this’ll make three for Akin and two for Cliff Chiang, but Chiang had a solid run concluding with the zero issue so he’ll probably show up more soon once he gets a couple issues ahead again.

Wonder Woman is also in Batwoman #17 in February, but she’s not one the cover and the solicit is not so informative.  Same deal with Justice League #17.  However, Wonder Woman and Superman are making out again on the cover to Young Romance: A New 52 Valentine’s Day Special #1, and has a story in the book:

YOUNG ROMANCE: A NEW 52 VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL #1
Written by ANDY DIGGLE, ANN NOCENTI, CECIL CASTELLUCCI, PETER MILLIGAN and others
Art by GENE HA, EMANUELLA LUPPICHINNO, BECKY CLOONAN, PHIL JIMENEZ, SANFORD GREEN and others
Cover by KENNETH ROCAFORT
On sale FEBRUARY 6 • 64 pg, FC, $7.99 US • RATED T
• Romance is in the air in this very special Special!
• Wonder Woman consults Eros himself about her feelings for The Man of Steel.
• Barbara Gordon has always been too busy for romance, but could her role as Batgirl bring her back to the first guy she ever kissed?
• Following the events of “Death in the Family,” how can Catwoman ease Batman’s troubled soul?
• Aquaman makes waves as he treats his wife like a queen for a day.
• From the pages of STORMWATCH, Apollo and Midnighter celebrate Valentine’s Day separately but with each other in mind. Who—or what—stands between them?
• Dick Grayson and the daughter of Lucious Fox meet-cute!
• Plus: Perforated Valentine’s Day cards featuring the stars of these stories!

I can’t decide if I think this is a terrible idea or if it might be sort of fun.  Either way, Wonder Woman and Eros are in it, and the creators are really cool.  Plus you get Valentine’s cards with it too… that’s a good time.  My not even caring about Wonder Woman and Superman hooking up may be outweighed by good creators and most of the stories sounding decent.  Plus Young Romance was a CLASSIC romance comic, and if any of those stories have that vibe it will be super classy.

Look for Wonder Woman #17 on February 20, 2013!!

Ares is Wonder Woman’s grandfather. I hope his plans is NOT to take or to beg or to fight or to pay for her virginity. Ares is father of Queen Hippolyte. Ares is the father of Hera and Zeus. Queen Hippolyte slept with her own grandfather Zeus. Zeus wanted Wonder Woman’s virginity.
