Women In Comics Statistics: DC And Marvel, February 2014 In Review

bleedingcool

A new “Gendercrunching” is up at Bleeding Cool, and it’s got the usual stats fun plus a look at the Eisner Award nominations, both this year and past years.

DC posted the higher overall percentage of female creators yet again, climbing to 13.8% this February, while Marvel was up as well but remained behind at 12%. I’m very curious to see if DC sustains this above average total; their output was their usual fare, without any particularly female creator-heavy books. Just increased representation here and there across the board. It’s rarely smart to be optimistic when it comes to women in comics stats, but it would be nice to see this growth continue, or at least maintain.

The numbers for the Eisners were interesting as well. This year, over 17.9% of the nominees were women, a strong number on its own and a huge increase over past years.

Head over to Bleeding Cool to see how the numbers break down and to enjoy all of the stats fun!
