Wonder Woman #0 Cover And Solicitation

To celebrate the one year anniversary of their relaunch, DC Comics isn’t releasing issue #13 of their books in September.  Instead, all of the mainline DCnU titles are putting out a #0 issue that will go back and fill in some of the backstory of the new DC universe, in most cases telling a story about the characters that took place before their first issue.  In the case of Wonder Woman, we get this lovely Cliff Chiang cover and a fairly vague solicit:

On sale SEPTEMBER 19

• A facet of the past is revealed – and a foe is introduced!

• How did Wonder Woman become a star pupil of Ares?

All of the covers look like that, by the way, with the main character bursting out of a gray version of the first issue cover.  It feels a little more gimmicky than cool to me, but Cliff Chiang makes it look nice.

Anyway, “a facet of the past is revealed” is very uninformative, but a foe is fun!!  Maybe they’ll re=introduce a classic Wonder Woman villain or something.  Not that I don’t enjoy the gods she’s been fighting lately, but their take on a more mortal sort of bad guy could be interesting.

As for Wonder Woman as a star pupil of Ares, I have no idea how that’s going to happen.  That seems like an unlikely relationship.  Though I suppose the last issue did hint at some sort of connection in the past between the two of them.  They’ve yet to actually interact in the current run though.

Justice League #0 is all about Shazam so that doesn’t really concern us, though since Earth 2 #0 is set in the past, it looks like Wonder Woman is going to be part of that story, so look for that in the first week of September if you liked the 10 panels of Earth 2 Wonder Woman we got in the first issue.  Other than that, you can pick up Wonder Woman #0 on September 19!!
