Now that the dust has settled on another busy Comic-Con, it’s time to sift through all the announcements and see what’s new for Wonder Woman. It was a big year, with DC Comics announcing a new Sandman comic, Marvel revealing that their movie slate includes Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ant Man, and Image unveiling several new series that look pretty great. So what’s new for Wonder Woman?
With four Super-books, four Green Lantern books, and about 87 million Bat-books each month, perhaps DC debuted a second Wonder Woman series!! Or maybe with the massive success of The Hunger Games and The Avengers, there were some major announcements about a big budget Wonder Woman movie?! Let’s go through the list!!
Sorry about this, folks.
There is no list.
As far as I can tell, Wonder Woman didn’t ever get mentioned at DC’s Comic-Con panels. Of the current Wonder Woman team, I don’t think Brian Azzarello was there, and Cliff Chiang was there but not scheduled for any of DC’s panels. So Comic-Con was a bit of a letdown for Wonder Woman fans this year. Rocket Raccoon’s got a damn movie, but nothing at all new for Wonder Woman in any way, shape, or form.
Here’s a cool thing though!! There was a group of steam punk DC heroes cosplayers that was SUPER classy, so take a look at Molly McIsaac as steam punk Wonder Woman on the far left:
And it looked like there were tons of other Wonder Woman cosplayers on the floor too. So good work, Molly and all the other Wonder Women, for bringing Wonder Woman to Comic-Con, since it seems that DC didn’t.
