Wonder Woman #20 Cover And Solicit

Twenty issues already!!  That’s surprising.  Time is flying by, but the Azzarello and Chiang team-up carries on despite many cancellations and creative shake-ups elsewhere at DC.  Let’s check out what we know about Wonder Woman #20:

Wonder Woman was certain there was one person in her life she could trust—but she thought wrong!

First off, great cover as always!!  I’m using the cover that Chiang posted himself instead of the one that’s been released through Comic Book Resources.  Chiang’s version has the logo at the top, which I think pulls it all together a bit more.

So betrayal, again.  Poor Wonder Woman can’t catch a break with the people she chooses to trust.  I’m anticipating having to write another “seriously, she got duped AGAIN??” review in May.  That particular plotline is getting old.

As for who it is, I think there’s really only two people left who might fit the “one person in her life she could trust” bill.  Zola is the obvious choice, but I think Lennox could come into play too.  He’s been a trusted companion for a while now.  Still, Zola is the most likely.  She’s been a part of the book since Day One.

Look for Wonder Woman #20 on May 15!!

So she’s going to be betrayed by someone close to her again? Something smells really fishy about this. I’ve got a bad feeling that editorial may strong-arming Azz into making his Diana more consistent with the insecure, self-pitying Diana that we see in JL so eventually “You Know Who” can show up and be her “knight in shining armor.”

    • Tim Hanley Says:

Did you see that Orion is on the cover to Superman #20? That concerned me.

      • Your Senior Drill Instructor Says:

Yeah I did see that and I honestly can’t say that I was surprised. Last week when I went to my LCS I noticed some flyers that DC sent out which had a list of “essential” Superman stories that they’re recommending people check out to get them prepared for the MOS movie. What’s really ironic is that LOIS is his love interest in just about all of those stories! So they’re recommending Superman stories in which Lois is his love interest to get people ready for a movie in which she’s also his love interest, yet they promoted this SM/WW romance to the point hysteria…*headdesk*

You’d think that the higher ups at WB would step in and say “HEY! WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU MORONS DOING?”

Maybe if they’d learn to coordinate their properties better they wouldn’t be perpetually playing second fiddle to Marvel.

How many people have actually betrayed her though? Hermes is the only one popping to mind right now. So one guy after 20 issue isn’t too bad.

    • Tim Hanley Says:

Hermes is the only real betrayal, yes, but Wonder Woman’s been duped, tricked, deceived, and generally shown to be rather naive and not terribly observant constantly throughout this run. It’s getting to be a bit much.

  3. Karl Says:

Yes, Diana should be more wordly-wise by now,, sick of her being constantly betrayed or let down, esp when she dosent appear to learn from it.
btw Tim, WordPress has been down the past few days and its been difficult for people to log onto this site.

    • Tim Hanley Says:

Yeah, I’ve been having some issues with WordPress lately too. Hopefully they can sort out whatever’s up… it’s frustrating not to be able to do anything about it.
