Wonder Woman #21 Cover And Solicit

DC Comics have put out a lot of their solicits early again, and so we get to take a look at Wonder Woman #21 a few days ahead of time.  Let’s take a peak:

Wonder Woman’s already reeling from the battle of a lifetime. How can she possibly withstand an all-out attack from her eldest brother, the deadly First Born? London’s in ruins, Diana’s family is shattered, and gods old and new will feel the First Born’s wrath!

I absolutely love this cover.  Cliff Chiang always kills it, but this one is particularly great.  The design of it is really cool and eye catching, and all of the characters are full of expression and the more extreme perspective totally works.  I love Wonder Woman gritting her teeth with one eye closed, and Zola popping in on the bottom is super fun.   I hope after this story that Chiang spins off Zola into an ongoing series a la Hawkeye or something… she just goes about her normal life and gets herself into random, crazy situations.  I’d read a book where Chiang drew Zola forever.

Storywise, it seems there was a big fight in the last issue, “the battle of a lifetime” even, and now there’s more to come.  Someone’s set to betray her in Wonder Woman #20, so maybe the battle had something to do with that.  My other guess is that the First Born got to the Olympian gods and there was much carnage.  Either way, it looks like Wonder Woman is in his sights for this issue.  Things seem set to get pretty crazy in Wonder Woman over the next few months, which I’m very excited for.  The book’s been a little too laid back and slow for me lately, so I’m excited for big things to go down.

Look for Wonder Woman #21 on June 19!!  How can you not buy a book with a cover like that?!

I’m starting to think that the First Born could actually be this huge threat to the universe that High Father was afraid of instead of Zola’s baby.

I think its really cool that London is WW’s base of operations. I mean, they need superheroes in other countries besides the United States, right?🙂
