Women In Comics Statistics: DC, October 26, 2011

After three solid weeks, DC took a slight step back to finish off October, but it was nothing too disastrous.  On October 26, 2011, DC put out 20 new comic books with 145 credited creators, 130 male and 15 female.  Let’s look at their overall total:

It’s not great, but it’s not that bad… 10.3% is a bit below average.  They spent the whole month in double digits, though.  That’s pretty impressive.  Plus the range of their totals is only 1.4%, which is remarkably consistent.  Let’s go to the categories:

And chart them up:

Well, we had writers this week… two of them even!!  That’s nice to see.  And it was a crazy week for colourists with a whopping 22.7%.  Editorial was way down from their huge totals last week, full editors especially… but I suppose that’s to be expected.  What goes up must come down and all of that.  Again, no ladies are doing much artwise inside of DC books, or letteringwise either.  Two weeks in a row with nothing is disheartening.

Notes:

  • Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso’s Spaceman premiered this week, and I hope you all bought a copy!!  It was only a dollar, and it’s super good.  You can’t go wrong with those two dudes.
  • It was a tie for busiest book of the week with All Star Western #2 and The Fury of Firestorm #2 both at 9 creators, 1 and 2 ladies respectively.
  • The book with the highest percentage of female creators was Teen Titans #2 at 2 of 7.
