A Preview of DC Retroactive: Wonder Woman – The 80s

DC Comics’ The Source blog has put up a look inside this week’s DC Retroactive: Wonder Woman – The 80s.  The special issue was written by Roy Thomas, and features a slew of artists.  The preview definitely has an 80s vibe, so good work!!  Check it out:

Say what you will about comics in the 1980s, and oh the things we could say (this DC Retroactive scene confuses me… hooray older creators are getting some gigs, but a 40s/50s/60s thing would have been a MILLION times cooler), but this screams 80s to me.  They’ve totally captured the proper mood.

I still don’t understand why they didn’t get George Perez to do this, but so it goes.  Also, they should have gone with classic colouring too… modern colouring on retro art always throws me for a loop.  I feel like the colour should be flatter, and on really bad paper.

Check out the book on Wednesday, August 3!!
